VIS is a gated school with full-time security 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Three time periods are established:

a)      Core time               (weekdays from 07:30 to 14:45)

b)      Activity time          (weekdays from 14:45 to 18:00,

weekends and no-school days from 07:30 to 18:00)

c)      Staff time               (06:00 to 22:00)

Entrance Control

A VIS photo ID card is issued to staff members and Secondary students, and to those parents and their domestic support staff who request one from the school office.  VIS ID cards are not issued to Primary students.  Staff members, parents and their support staff show their ID cards when entering or leaving the pedestrian gate.  Secondary students must show their cards when entering or leaving the pedestrian gate during Activity time.  Secondary students can regain access to the school campus only by presenting their VIS ID card .

All other visitors must sign the visitors’ book and receive a VIS Visitor ID which they must wear visibly at all times (except when actively participating in sport activities).

Visitor access to the campus is from 07:30 to 16:00.  Outside this time period visitors must apply to the Administration for access, indicating their reason to access the school campus. Entrance control measures may be suspended for certain events such as Friday Night Basketball, Fun Fair, Open School Night, etc.

Students, parents and domestic support staff may gain access to classrooms only in the presence of a teacher.  During Activity time students,  parents and domestic support staff are not allowed to access classrooms, the library, IT labs, the Music House, the VIS office or any other room unless accompanied by a VIS staff member.

Students are not allowed to leave the school campus during Core time.  Students wishing to leave must obtain a permission slip from the school office to present at the security gate.

Access time

Primary students not under the direct supervision of a parent must leave the school campus at 14:45 unless they are actively participating in a VIS organized, approved or supervised activity.  After school activities normally end at 16:00.

Secondary students and parents must leave the school campus by 18:00 unless they are actively participating in a VIS organized, approved or supervised activity.

Primary and Secondary students may enter or remain on campus outside the regular Activity time if they are accompanied by a parent.  The student must remain under the direct supervision of his or her accompanying parent and they must leave together.

Domestic support staff are allowed to access the school campus only in connection with activities for the VIS student to whom they are assigned (e.g., drop-off, pick-up, food or message delivery).  Parents are responsible for the behavior and activities of their domestic support staff while on campus.

Closing time

The VIS campus remains closed from 22:00 until 06:00.  During this period no one may enter school premises without prior approval of the School Director or the Business Manager.
