The school employs a full time registered nurse who provides emergency first aid care to students and staff who suffer injury or illness at school. An infirmary is located next to the school canteen. Parents are notified immediately if their child requires medical attention more complicated than a simple bandage. Likewise, if a child arrives at or becomes ill while at school, the nurse will telephone the child's parents to take him or her home. Parents are asked to keep their child's class teacher and the nurse apprised of ongoing medical needs and concerns. It is vital that parents/guardians notify the office if their emergency contact information changes. Also important is information for an alternate contact person in case parents cannot be reached.
Medication
In the event a student needs medication during the school day, parents are to bring the medication to the infirmary and complete a form which clearly identifies the child, the medication, the ailment, dosage and timing for administering the medication. Classroom teachers and staff are not allowed to either accept or administer medication. No medication will be administered without permission of a parent.
