September 28 – October 2nd This year our VIS library and school came alive with the theme Reading Opens Windows into Other Worlds. Students and staff were encouraged to think of how reading books had opened their eyes to a real or imaginary world.
Like last year each day had a theme. Monday started off with the World of Poetry, with classes celebrating poetry. Tuesday was T-shirt Tuesday where the school celebrated the world of words on T-shirts. Many students were creative and made their own messages for their T-shirts. Well done.
Wednesday was the world of wackiness with lots of people interpreting wackiness in their own way.
Thursday was Come as a Character day and was very popular with the primary school who proudly paraded at assembly for the judges. What a hard job Miss Catherine and Miss Carla had choosing who were the most commended!
To wrap up the week, classes from early years to grade 10 created their own window into another world and were on display for the school to judge. Congratulations to grade 5 the winners. The library was decked out with windows of all shapes and sizes at the entrance and on display inside were windows into other worlds with students having to guess what world the book/s represented. The treasure hunt was very popular with primary as was the competition to Be a Librarian for a Day. Congratulations to everyone who entered into the spirit of Library Alive.
