Focus and Purpose French language has been one of the most popular foreign languages among students and this course is intended for students who have no or limited knowledge of French previously. It is based on the communicative Language Teaching Approach. The book to be followed for teaching is Le nouveau sans Frontière 1 & 2. It is a complete method of French language for adolescent debutants. It covers the major vocabulary and grammar prescribed by IBO. Also it consists of a number of written, oral and aural exercises in a systematic and communicative approach. The documents, illustrations and photos after each unit help in getting acquainted with the French civilization.

Part I Format of the assessment: Candidates select a previously unseen visual stimulus linked to one of the topics in 'b' of the core syllabus then prepare and deliver a presentation based on stimulus. Preparation time : 10 minutes Assessment time : Approximately 5 minutes presentation (2-3 minutes) follow up questions 2 minutes
Part 2 Format of the assessment : General conversation between the teacher and the candidate. Preparation time : Not prepared Assessment time : Approximately 5 minutes
VIS Assessment The VIS grade will be based on the differentiation of tasks and assignments from the above list. These differentiated tasks and assignments will be handed out with the course outlines at the beginning of the school year.
