When Vicki became a teacher, which was about eighteen years ago, she decided to work mainly with young people experiencing difficulties at school and in life. She treasures being in an environment where everyone is centered on learning. VIS is Vicki’s first international school experience and she is loves the cultural richness and diversity it offers.

Along with supporting individual students throughout the school, this year she will be teaching Grades 8, 9 and 10 FEND English; helping others with English as a Second Language (ESL) in Primary and Secondary; and working with Grade 12 students to prepare them for leaving school.

Vicki is from Sydney, Australia where she has a home in the inner city. Before coming to Vientiane she was a specialist teacher in numerous schools; a consultant to independent schools across the state; the Principal of a remote, Aboriginal school in the bush; an ESL teacher in Hong Kong; and a support teacher in the Torres Straight Islands.  Before teaching she worked her way around the world after which she spent some years at the Sydney Opera House and also went to Art school.

She loves roaming through new and unusual places taking photographs, drinking Lao iced coffee on hot days, traditional cultures, good movies, art and music and most of all her son and family.

Vicki is looking forward to getting to know many more students this year and working closely with their teachers and parents, to help them achieve greater success at school.
