CREDENTIALS Bachelor of Arts English Master of Arts in Popular Culture Studies Bowling Green State University Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics Ohio University United States Teaching Certification Mark Gordon comes from Cleveland, Ohio in the United States and is a Secondary School English Language Arts teacher. Students at VIS know Mark as "Mr. Gordon." Prior to joining the VIS staff in 1997, Mark taught English in Saudi Arabia, Thailand and at many NGOs throughout Laos. Mark's ability to speak, read and write Thai and Lao come in handy when he is called upon to assist as a translator and interpreter. Mark sees learning as "what makes us human" and so considers us all to be students. Being surrounded by the world of knowledge and learning and being able to gain and transfer such to others, makes coming to work worthwhile. Mark is married with three children; his daughter Julia attends VIS in Grade 4. Mark's wife Keo operates a small restaurant here in Vientiane.
