CREDENTIALS Bachelor of Education Graduate Diploma IT in Education Auckland College of Education New Zealand Teaching Certification Lara Stuart, known as "Miss Lara" to her students at VIS, is from New Zealand. She spent most of her youth in a forestry town on the North Island, but has also lived in Australia, and for a time lived on a yacht. Lara holds a Bachelor of Education degree and a Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology in Education. She taught for three years in Auckland before bringing her talents to VIS in 2002. For the first two years at VIS, Lara taught Primary Preparation. Looking for a new challenge and to expand her teaching experience, Lara asked to be assigned to the Grade 5 class. Lara says that the best thing about teaching is "the children's endless energy and optimism". Lara uses some of her own endless energy playing rugby, netball and squash, swimming, yachting and reading. She also loves to travel -- visiting amusement parks, spas and saunas. Lara's son, Blake, is a VIS student in Grade 7. They have eight cats, one dog, and many fish.
