 Grade 1 Teacher
CREDENTIALS Bachelor of Education (Honors) Westminster College, Oxford British Teaching Certification Jill Matthews, known to the students of VIS as "Ms. Jill," is from England. Before she came to VIS in 1994 as a Grade 3/4 teacher, Jill taught Grade 2 at the Brunei Shell Petroleum International School. This was her first experience in Asia, and she enjoyed it so much that she stayed on for four years. Previously, Jill had worked in the UK for several years as a class teacher for 7-9 year olds at Primary schools in Sussex, Cambridge and Ascot, Berks. Jill has had a long association with VIS and is currently the classroom teacher in Grade 1 where she works with Mrs. Pu. When asked what she likes best about teaching, Jill said, "The variety of working with children - each day is different; no two days are the same." Jill lives in Vientiane with her husband, David Brook.
