and Social Studies CREDENTIALS Bachelor of Arts English Literature Wagner College Master of Arts Theater University of Maine United States Teaching Certification Garret Hotrich, better known to students as Mr. Hotrich, returns to VIS for his thirteenth year. This year Garret will teach Social Studies to Grade 8 and 12 students, English to students in Grade 8 and Drama to Grade 8, 9 and 10. He is the Class Advisor for students in Grade 8. Garret grew up in New York. He has traveled extensively, and had many interesting jobs before becoming a teacher, including farming, land surveying, and being a professional actor. He has also taught English in Austria, Bangladesh, the U.S. and Nigeria. He enjoys seeing his students learning and being successful in their studies, and expanding their views of the world and their places in it. Mr. Hotrich has a special interest in Lao and loves to travel around the country searching for archeological sites, and to enjoy the natural beauty and people. Garret is married to Joanna, now retired, and together they have two grown daughters, Sky and Kristen.
