Mrs. Elaine is a "Third Culture Kid" like many of our students, having been born in England to Jamaican parents. She has lived in England, Germany, France, the United States, Cameroon, Cambodia, and now is pleased to be in Laos with her family. She has taught English in Germany and Cameroon, and Early Years and Grade 1 in Germany, as well. Prior to coming to VIS, Elaine taught English and German at NISC (Northbridge International School of Cambodia).

While she has enjoyed each of the places she has lived, Asia is by far her favorite. Elaine is thankful for the internet which keeps her in close contact with family in England, Germany, Switzerland and Jamaica.

What she likes best about teaching is the constant reminder that learning is a life-long process. Elaine enjoys being a positive influence in her students' development.

Mrs. Elaine and her husband Frank, Country Director of Care International, have two sons, both at VIS - Joshua and Kaleb. She enjoys singing, playing the guitar, listening to gospel music and dancing to old R&B. Keeping busy as a mom, Elaine is studying Lao and working on her Master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) . She loves meeting new people. Stop in and talk with her in English, German, French, Khmer (or maybe Spanish, which she says she only understands).
