Early Childhood
Children must be 3 years old by September 1st to be eligible for our Pre-School 3 year old program. VIS uses a September 1 birth date as an enrollment date for all grade levels. In both Pre-School classes (ages 3 and 4) we strive to provide an environment which supports and extends children’s learning and development through play. We work with each child at his/her individual developmental level, incorporating different learning styles. VIS also strives to provide a nurturing atmosphere that supports the child’s emotional well-being and encourages positive social action in a multi-cultural context, with a variety of experiences to enhance learning. Structured, purposeful inquiry is used as a vehicle for learning. Units of Inquiry are structured around important concepts and provide a context in which children can understand and, at the same time, acquire essential knowledge, skills and attitudes following IBO guidelines.
